About Me

Learning experiences shaped by learning science.

I'm a Learning Experience Designer with a foundation in instructional design and learning science, and a track record of building custom, thoughtful learning experiences across software, healthcare, IT, and higher education.

I move fluidly between the strategic and the hands-on: from shaping content strategy and information architecture, to writing and structuring instruction grounded in how people actually learn, to building the custom HTML/CSS that makes an off-the-shelf authoring tool feel like a purpose-built product. That range lets me take a project from a vague stakeholder ask all the way to a polished, on-brand learning experience without losing fidelity in the handoffs.

Outside of work, I bring the same eye for craft and detail to photography and mixed media art.

How I Work

The gap comes first; everything else follows.

01

Start with the Gap, Not the Content

Every project begins with the same question: what can't the learner do right now, and what do they need to be able to do after? If the real problem is a broken process or a motivation issue, I'll say so, even when a course was the original ask.

02

Diagnose Before I Design

A skill gap, a knowledge gap, and a motivation gap each need a different fix. I design differently for each rather than defaulting to one format for everything.

03

Design for Transfer, Not Just Delivery

The goal isn't that someone completed a course; it's that they can apply it back in their real work. That means scenario-based practice, spaced retrieval, and knowledge checks woven throughout.

04

Treat Attention as a Finite Resource

Content gets chunked into the smallest meaningful units, and anything that doesn't serve the performance goal gets cut. I lean on Mayer's multimedia principles and cognitive load research.

05

Build the Thing Myself

I write custom HTML/CSS in Rise to build the interfaces, interactions, and branded experiences the content actually calls for, so the final product doesn't feel like a template.

06

Improve How I Build, Not Just What I Build

I've led initiatives to rethink team production workflows. One effort doubled the number of courses and course updates a team could complete per quarter, without adding headcount.

My approach draws heavily on Julie Dirksen's performance-focused design, Mayer's multimedia learning principles, adult learning theory, and cognitive load management.

AI Literacy Training Series

Internal training built to grow AI fluency and practical tool literacy across a workforce.

Technical & Product Training

Courses that bring technical audiences up to speed on a platform or product.

Sales & Post-Sales Enablement

Learning content supporting sales teams and customer-facing post-sales roles.

Learning & Development Tutorials

A self-serve tutorial library and resource series for the L&D team.

Try It Yourself

Built to demonstrate the craft, not just describe it.

Four interactive simulations, covering AI-assisted judgment, product prioritization, diagnostic troubleshooting, and coaching conversations, each with its own designer-mode toggle that reveals the instructional reasoning behind every choice. All scenarios and characters are fictional.

AI Judgment

The Evidence Gap

An AI-generated recommendation looks confident; the evidence behind it doesn't hold up. Practice verifying claims and escalating precisely instead of trusting confidence as proof.

Signal Lost

A customer-data sync fails minutes before an executive review. Read the system signals, separate symptoms from root cause, and choose the smallest reversible test.

Gamification

Learning built like something you'd actually want to play.

Four full-length simulation games spanning cybersecurity, healthcare, fraud investigation, and mission operations. Each turns a training topic into a scored, branching experience with real consequences for every decision. All scenarios, characters, and organizations are fictional.
